A year of Change and time to refocus!

Well, it's been months since I've been here. I'm afraid I lost some focus on fitness and figure due to changes in my personal life, but I'm ready to get it back. I separated from my husband a few months ago and have had some issues with my 13 year old daughter. I also found myself taking on a full time career vs starting a personal training career so that I can be in a better financial decision. I work crazy hours as a sales manager for a building company and I LOVE my job, but between the hours… Continue

2009....Agressive Goals!

Well, it's Monday Jan. 5th and I have some aggressive goals in mind and figured if I write them down it will assure that I reach them.

1. Get my personal training certification
2. Attain a part time job (until I fill my pt book)
3. Compete in at least 3 shows (maybe 4)
4. pursue fitness modeling
5. Stay lean enough for modeling, but not lose muscle
I want to do all of this and stay POSITIVE and DETERMINED!

I made a decision in December to quit my job in sales (at my husbands company), to get m… Continue

No, I have never been to NYC I would love to take my middle child Isabelle one day to some Broadway shows, she loves things like that. Thank-you for the compliments on my relationship with my hubby. I am not saying we are perfect but the past year we have been growing closer and praying together as a family and the things I have learned from the Bible have helped our relationship grow even more. He is a great dad and yes I could use his help a little more around the house but instead of just grumbling under my breath about how he doesn't help and keeping it mostly to myself and then exploding every couple of months I tell him I need help and that there is nothing sexier than a husband cleaning the kitchen! LOL!!! Our biggest problem is so much to do. When we are together we are happy but are stressed with trying to get everything done. I am trying to be more patient and give the girls more to do to help out. They want a dog which will be great responsibility for them but they have to prove they can handle it for at least three months of doing their chores around the house without us begging or grounding them. So far it is working out. Your job sounds fun. My parents owned 3 salons at one time and now own one that really runs itself. Theirs is not a high end salon though. Can't wait to meet you. Got to get back to my chores! LOL!!! Have a great weekend!!!!!

Thanks Char! We should be able to meet Friday. Maybe we could go out to dinner. I think my plane gets in around 3:00. I am so excited. I never do things like this by myself. I got married at 17 and had babies. I love my life and love been the young fit mom of the group but I missed out on being independent. My husband is an amazing man and so supportive but he wants to protect me. LOL!!! He is truly my best friend and I would love to be with him 24/7 but it isn't healthy. I need to do things without him and I am finally confident enough to do them. My sis is totally opposite, she is the most independent person I know. I love her! Even though is is 8 years younger I look up to her in many ways. Funny huh? Well, the Insurance guy is coming out to look at our house and it sounds like we have problems. We may even have to replace the tile in our bathroom. It could be worse though. There is a guy I know that had this happen the same weekend and his ceiling fell into his kitchen and broke the granite countertops. Could you imagine? Our house looks like everything is fine until you go into the guest bedroom and step onto the carpet. As far as me and my mental issues I will be fine. I just have to stick with my plan and stop over eating and I will feel better about myself. I also need to get a couple more pairs of jeans that fit instead of squeezing into my ones I wore 12lbs ago! LOL!!!! Have a great day!!!!!!

Hey Char! My sis lives in a neigborhood called Manayunk. Have you heard of it? We could meet somewhere if you want. Got any ideas? I am trying to get up with my friend Allison too. Haven't heard from her yet. So, how are things going? All of the mess in our house is cleaned up except the guest bedroom and my hubby is trying to save the carpet and dry it out but I am voting for new. LOL!!! i think it will be mildewed. It happen Sat and it is Thurs and it is still soaked with up drying it will fan and de humidafliers and towels everyday. We will see. I am also struggling mentally with gaining weight off season. I really want to lean out some to feel better about myself . I just don't like my body unless I am really lean but want to gain the muscle at the same time. Just one of those days. LOL!!!

I had a wonderful weekend in TN at our families lake house and came back to a pipe that froze and busted. The damage isn't horrible but still will have to be fixed. On a lighter happier note I am coming to PA on Feb. 6-9th! I am so excited!!! Got my tickets so I guess I will see you in a couple of weeks if you are free!!!!

I want to concentrate on getting another certification too. First, nutrition then I would love to specialize also. Sports would be great. My husband coaches my daughter's all girls soccer team ages 13- 14 and I would love to know more to help the team out. I get alot of clients who are in their 50's and some are in pretty good shape and I love helping them but my dream is to do the younger more athelitic crowd. Where my sis is an athlete and we both love training I would love to work with her on opening a gym one day. I have had a few people tell me it would be a mistake because the hours are awlful but it is still something to consider for the future. Thank you so much for going into detail about the weight gain. I know the closest people to me in the Figure field that I have been around who have the best muscle gains really do gain alot off season. I love to eat and could really eat more but it always worries me about a photo shoot opportunity coming up. I need to just put all of that on hold and gain my muscle first. How much do you think you were eating when you had your best gains muscle wise? I ate 3000 calories last year in my off season and put on alot of muscle but I was addicted to almonds so alot of that came from fat. I am trying to put the bulk of my carbs around w.o. now and focusing on protein with a healthy balance of fat. Did you give yourself guidelines for the off season or did you just eat? Did you say you were going to the Arnold? I would love to meet you.

You sound like me! I feel like I aggrevate people by asking questions about anything fitness related but it is the way I learn. Ok, so I guess you figured out I am a little slow. LOL!!! I think I read somewhere else you had talked about booking clients and I read that last post so fast I didn't even put the two together. HA!! Anyway, I would love to work at a big gym. I am a CPT through ACE. Who are you getting certified through? I have been training clients from my home gym for exactly a year and certified since May. I too love anything Fitness related and love to teach people how to be healthy. I got most of my clients through word of mouth. We have a YMCA here that is pretty nice, but I still have a pre-schooler and it is perfect to work from my home gym even when she is here. She is a little trainer herself. She amazes me the exercises she comes up with. She tells people she can't miss her w.o. and works harder than any client I've got! LOL!!! I first started with my friends and didn't charge very much (I wasn't even certified yet) then from there people started talking (small town) and I have been pretty booked ever sense. I only work mornings from 8-12. I do this for my daughter. I have 2 other girls and once 3:00 hits we are running from practice to practice or dinner, homework, bath, and bed. I need from 12-3 to get house work, errands, emails, and online clients. I have just started online clients and want to expand. I want to do a Fit team in my area to help women get excited about eating healthy and working out. It would be great for some of these women who want to do it but just don't have support of friends and family. I have alot of people who would love to train with me that work also so this gives them a chance to get a boot camp type w.o. every two weeks (at night or a weekend) and eat healthy recipes ( I love to cook) I would do a online w.o. plan and sample meal plan if they want one and answer any questions they have Fitness related. I have had a workshop a few months ago and it was so much fun. My mother-in-law is a Yoga Instructor so she took half while I put the other half through a w.o. and then I had healthy foods and gave a seminar at the end. It was a blast. I had a lot of 13 and 14 year old girls who came and they even seemed to have fun. I would love to be able to work more with teens but my schedule doesn't allow it right now that my kids are still young. I still have one girl that works out with my daughter that is 13 2x a week. I have also fit in my w.o. with one of my clients. I gave her a discount, I have a spot and she learns how to lift....win win. During contest prep I was so worn out from clients( I had 3 teachers who came 2x a week at 5:30am and I fit in my am cardio before they got there) then a full schedule and my w.o. at 1:00 which sometimes could last 1.5hrs! Not to mention my diet and all of the cooking I had to somehow fit in. I think it really hurt my muscle gains because I was getting 5 hours a sleep a night sometimes 6 if I was lucky. After the competition I had to change things because I was letting my kids grow up and I wasn't getting to enjoy them. Now I am much happpier. I love to eat and that alone has helped my mood! LOL!!! I feel like I am really gaining muscle. Yes, I have put on some fat too but since Christmas I have eaten pretty clean except for a cheat or two a week and I really have not gone overboard. I wish I could see what everyone who does competitions look in the off season because I would feel better. I had to go up in jeans because mine were too tight and I felt so fat. My husband tells me I look a little more normal now. I know the extra lean competition look isn't healthy. I didn't even having my period for 6mo. I am, 5'7 135 right now. I was 125 right before water depleting for my competitions. I know for my height I could weigh alot more. I really want to put on muscle but without a lot of fat. How much do you gain in the off season?

Cool about following your dream! Keeping following. My parents taught me that. They have been in so many businesses while my dad had a hobby of fixing his cars for drag racing. He had a truck that was the fastest of it's kind in the world and did it from the carport at our house. As my brother got older he got into drag racing and sports bikes now they opened up a place called McCoy Motorsports and do most of their business online. They won a reality Biker build off in Vegas that was on ESPN2 and are featured in every top sports bike magazine and are even in Yamahas Ads. Micheal Jordan has had them fix up and few of his sports bikes. It all started with a dream and became a reality because of their love and passion. They still live in my small town of 6, 500 people in the city of Pikeville. The internet is amazing. I know if it weren't for email and these forums I would never do the competitions. It is my way to stay motivated and informed. Tell me more about your book!

Hi Char! Yes, I do have a facebook and so does my sister. My sisters name is Tiffany McCoy. Not sure what part of Philly. I think in town. I haven't gotten to visit her yet. She moved about a year ago....I think. LOL!!! Time flies. I wish she lived close to me. Our dream and plan is to one day live in CO. She loves it there. She really likes Philly too but loves nature and hiking and wants to take up rock climbing. To me that is the perfect place to be too! I live in the mountains in KY and couldn't imagine not having them. We really want to live somewhere with more opportunities for us and our children. I will definately check out the contests for the Tri- Fitness . Right now, I am not competiting until I put on more muscle. Who knows maybe I can do one in your area while visiting my sister, LOL!!!!
