I have my own personal training business in Chicago. I have always been passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. I feel so rewarded by my work everyday, when I hear the positive progress from my clients. I am also an NPC figure competitor and get such a rush pushing my body and mind to its limits.
What I like to do?
When I am not training, I love trying new restaurants:) If I could do everything outside on a sunny day, I would! So I am always seeking outdoor concerts, street festivals, restaurant patios, etc. I like to goof around on the tennis court, though I am not very good. I'm also a huge fan of Bikram Yoga, and think it is something everyone should incorporate into their lives.
What is your favorite body part?
Shoulders; a strong set of shoulders can balance out the entire rest of the body.
If you found a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would open my own training facility.
What frustrates you more than anything?
Inadequate trainers! Their clients are working so hard and don't have the right direction to get real results.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercise?
Favorite: Lat pull downs Least: Lunges
How many times a day do you eat?
5-7
How many times a week do you train?
Lift 4-5x/wk; Cardio 6-7x/wk
Do you have a story you want to share?
I competed in figure for the first time last April 2008. It was a small show, and I placed in the bottom rung. I had worked so hard and was so disappointed, that I wasn't sure if I would ever do it again. By January 09, I had the bug again, and decided to compete at Illinois State. But this time, I wanted to do it right. Aside from the more obvious changes, i.e. getting help from another trainer, the right supplementation, more intense workouts...I wrote down what I wanted to achieve. After "warming-up" at Iowa State, and placing 3rd. I wrote down several desires: goal weight, getting pictures done, getting 2 new clients by June, placing 1st at Illinois State. I am looking at that piece of paper now, as I type this, amazed all over again. I wasn't asking for a lot, but I was asking for very specific things from the universe. And when I refound this paper in the clutter on my desk, days before Jr. Nationals, I realized I had actually achieved all of these things. So I wrote up a new goal sheet that is still pending: to get sponsorship by 2010, to go pro by 2011, to help my clients realize their goals for 2009. I have big hopes, now!
Thats so funny you ask! I was just talking to my trainer about that today! The first person that did my diet took my shakes out...8 weeks out from comp. He couldn't really tell me why though. I've read many conflicting studies. I asked my current trainer (who I trust and has worked with the best) his views because he does NOT take my shakes out. He says there is no good reason. It's not necessary. If you look off, its because you're fat! Haha! Love him and his brutal honesty. Hope that helps!
