I have been active most of my life with gymnastics being my sport when I was a kid. I believe because of gymnastics I tend to have a more muscular build. However, until recently (until the Tight Curves Transformation Challenge), I have always fought my build and desired "the skinny look." In pursuit of being just skinny, I took up marathon training in 2005. I set my goal to qualify for Boston, which involved lots of miles. In 2006 I did qualify for Boston and finally had achieved the skinny look I had been after. However, my family and friends kept telling me I did not look good like this. Discouraged and burned out on running, I ended my marathon training. A few months later, I decided to try weight training with a trainer. It was shortly after I began weight training that my trainer told me about the Tight Curves Transformation challenge. I love to have a goal to work towards so I immediately jumped at the challenge. I have loved weight training and the results it gives. Finally, through this challenge I have learned to quit trying to fight the build God gave me and enjoy it.... He is a much better Creator than I am! :)
Hi Kim!! Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I like to switch up my cardio frequently... treadmill incline walks, with BIG steps....pulling that back leg the entire length of the tread is very effective. The stepmill is another great tool... I do speed intervals. Also sprints are the best for leg and glute shaping. Good luck to you...I hope you decide to compete, because it will be a life-changing journey for you. You won't regret it!!
Kim, I am happy to hear I am an inspiration to you. That is so sweet. I love to inspire others. I think that is great you are going to compete. You have a beaufiful physique. If I can help you with anything just let me know. I am not an expert by any means but have done 4 shows now. Let me know which one you decide to do. Take care and you look great :).
Hi Kim.. knowing that I've inspired you to compete is one of the most rewarding compliments you could give me.. thank you! That makes my heart smile :).. your children are so beautiful.. what are there ages? They look pretty close my childrens ages.. 8 and 10... I'm very excited about the journey you are about to begin... keep me posted! xox Liza
Hi Kim! I mix 2 heaping scoops of choc protein (I use to use proto whey but now tight curves) in with about a 1/2 cup hot water, a big TBSP of almond butter and mix well - stick it into the freezer for a few hours and before bed it's a YUMMY snack! I stop the almond butter or peanutbutter 8 weeks out prior to competing :)
I was named after my Grandmother too (on my Mom's side). Neat!
Let me know how you like HIIT! I like sprinting a lot, especially up hills (well, I may not really like it all of the time, but I like what it is doing for me!). Since I do not have hills here in FL, I need to use the treadmill now.
Hi Kim!
Thank you very much for the friend add and for your comments!
I read your story, too and you are an inspiration yourself! That is a huge accomplishment to do a marathon in the first place, but I am happy that you realized that just skinny is not the way to be! (: You look great! Those abs are awesome!!!!
That is neat that your daughter's name is Charlotte! Did you name her after anyone, or do you just like the name? Your children are so beautiful!
I also noticed that you are a Christian! We have that in common. (: You are right that God know what he is doing and we just have to put our trust in Him and work in faith!
Have a great day!
Okay, I think you are my twin. When I read your story, I thought I was reading about myself. Now, I never trained for the Boston Marathon, but I did take up running trying to achieve the "skinny look". I have come to the realization that I really don't love running all that much!! There is a local 10 mile race I have been doing every year and will continue to do, but that's it. No marathons for this girl. I love the "fit" look and that is my goal. Thanks for reading my story and for the encouragement!! I hope you decide to do a competition too, you look fabulous! I had a lot of fun doing the transformation challenge and learned a ton. You'll have to keep me posted on whether or not you compete. Its not to late...
Thank you Kim!! Congrats to you too on the Challenge, you look great, love the arms~ love the abs!! :) I started off with very little definition and now I can see my arms and legs really firming up. I am working on my abs too, I want that six pack.
